Jared Bidne is the founder and owner of Explosive Mechanics and a strength and performance coach whose career has been built around one objective: developing stronger, faster, and more explosive athletes—and proving that the training produces results.
For nearly two decades, Jared has studied, tested, and refined methods for improving strength, speed, acceleration, vertical jump, and overall athletic performance. His approach is built around a simple principle:
Don’t guess. Measure.
At Explosive Mechanics, training is not judged by how difficult a workout looks, how exhausted an athlete becomes, or what happens to be popular in the strength and conditioning industry. It is judged by one thing: measurable improvement in performance.
Athletes are tested in strength, speed, and power. Their results are tracked. Training is adjusted according to what the numbers reveal and how quickly the individual athlete adapts.
That process has produced results across virtually every level of sport.
Jared has trained more than 200 athletes who have earned NCAA Division I scholarships, along with athletes who have gone on to compete professionally in the NFL, MLB, and professional basketball. His athletes have earned State Player of the Year honors in football, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, and tennis. He has also coached International Powerlifting Federation world-record holders and athletes who have ranked among the top performers in the country at national combines.
ATHLETES DEVELOPED THROUGH THE SYSTEM
Some of the strongest evidence of Jared’s work can be found in athletes he began training years before they reached the highest levels of their sports.
Some began with Jared in elementary or middle school and continued through high school and college. Others trained with him through high school and college before reaching professional sports.
They weren’t simply trained after becoming elite. Many were trained on the way there.

These athletes span football, baseball, softball, lacrosse, volleyball, and track and field. Their paths are different, but the development process behind them reflects the same philosophy: Identify what the athlete needs. Develop it. Measure the result. Adjust until performance changes.
BUILDING EXPLOSIVE ATHLETES
Vertical jump development has become one of the defining areas of Jared’s work.
He developed a dumbbell jump training system designed to develop explosive strength and rate of force production without relying on traditional Olympic lifting as the primary method for developing power.
Through years of testing, application, and refinement of that system, Jared has trained 53 athletes to achieve vertical jumps of 40 inches or higher.
Among them have been three Top-10, seven Top-50, and 11 Top-100 national combine performers in the vertical jump, including the No. 1 vertical jumper in the country in 2017.
But Jared’s system extends far beyond jumping.
He developed a Squat Ratio System for examining the relationship between box-squat velocity and 40-yard-dash performance, allowing strength, bar speed, and sprint performance to be evaluated together rather than treated as unrelated qualities. The objective is not simply to make an athlete stronger.
The objective is to make strength transfer to performance.
His system centers on developing the physical qualities that ultimately determine explosive movement--maximum strength, rate of force production, neuromuscular efficiency, explosive strength, and the ability to apply force rapidly into the ground.
Rather than separating strength, speed, and power into completely isolated training blocks, Jared uses a conjugate-based approach, developing multiple athletic qualities concurrently while changing the emphasis according to the athlete’s individual strengths, weaknesses, and rate of adaptation.
His system incorporates Maximal Effort, Repeated Effort, and Dynamic Effort training, with each method serving a specific physiological and performance purpose.
There are no exercises simply for the sake of doing exercises.
There are no methods simply because they are traditional.
Everything has a purpose. Everything must produce an adaptation.
CHALLENGING ASSUMPTIONS
Jared’s willingness to measure performance has also led him to challenge long-standing assumptions within strength and conditioning.
Getting stronger does not automatically make an athlete faster.
Moving a weight quickly does not automatically develop explosive power.
Performing Olympic lifts does not automatically improve sprinting or jumping.
A training method only has value if it develops the quality it is intended to develop—and if that improvement ultimately transfers to athletic performance.
When the numbers improve, the method earns its place.
When they don’t, the training changes.
The athlete determines the program—not the program the athlete.
That philosophy has been applied to athletes ranging from developing youth competitors to high school and collegiate standouts to professional athletes. Jared has trained nationally ranked jumpers, elite strength athletes, football players preparing for combines, baseball players producing elite sprint performances at professional evaluation events, and championship-level teams.
His team experience includes championship programs in volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. Jared also served as Director of Sports Performance at Clayton State University, overseeing strength and conditioning across the university’s athletic programs.
EDUCATION, COMPETITION, AND EXPERIENCE
Jared’s background combines formal education, competitive strength sports, coaching, and decades of practical experimentation.
He earned a degree in Exercise Science from the University of Memphis, where he worked in the university’s Human Performance Laboratory and played football.
As a competitive strength athlete, Jared qualified for the Collegiate Weightlifting Championships in Olympic weightlifting, received the University of Memphis Iron Tiger Award for achievement in the weight room, became a world-ranked bench presser in the International Powerlifting Federation, and set a Georgia state record in USA Powerlifting.
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has presented for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and Georgia Strength Coaches Association. His work and the athletes he has trained have also been featured in Powerlifting USA and Georgia media.
THE WEIGHT ROOM IS THE LABORATORY Jared’s education gave him the foundation. Competition gave him perspective. Coaching gave him experience.
But his greatest laboratory has always been the weight room.
Thousands of training sessions, repeated performance testing, and years of working with athletes have allowed him to compare what training theory says should happen with what actually happens when an athlete runs, jumps, lifts, and competes.
That distinction became the foundation of Explosive Mechanics.
Apply the method. Measure the result. Evaluate the adaptation. Change the training when the numbers demand it.
Jared continues to teach these principles through Explosive Mechanics, his writing, online coaching, and the Explosive Mechanics | Strength, Speed & Power Podcast, where he discusses strength development, acceleration, biomechanics, force production, vertical jump training, and the methods he has developed and refined throughout his career.
After nearly two decades of coaching, testing, measuring, and refining, the philosophy remains the same:
Results over hype. Measurement over assumptions. Performance over appearance.
System-based. Performance-driven. Zero fluff.
At Explosive Mechanics, athletes aren’t simply trained.
